Absolute Value Of Complex Numbers

                     Lesson 1

Problem:                   Find the distance from the origin to this point: 4 - 6i

                                                             Solution                    Z = a + bi, a = 11 and b = -12

                           Step 1:

Solution                         Distance from the origin to this point is equal to absolute value of the complex value

 Step 2:

= |Z| = √(a2 + b2)

                                                                                 Solution                          |Z| = a2 + b2 = √{(4) + (-6)} = (16 + 36) = 52 = 7.2

                                                             Step 3:

 Solution                     The answer is:  7.2

 Step 4:

 Complete
