Properties Of Real Number

Lesson 1

Problem:                   Identify the property of real numbers that is demonstrated.

x + 4y = 4y + x

Step 1: x + 4y = 4y + x

Two elements are interchanging; a + b = b + a

Step 2: Therefore it is the commutative property of addition.

                                                            Try two practice problems:  

Simplify:

                                                                                                A. (8y). (1) = 8y

                                                                                                B.  3 + 9k = 9k + 3
