Parabola - Match the Standard equation and graph
Lesson 1

Problem:

a4

Step 1: Standard form of the given parabola is (y − k)2 = -4p(x − h)
Step 2: Here, vertex (h, k) are (3, -1); so h = 3 and k = -1
Step 3: Put values of h & k in equation: (y + 1)2 = -4p(x - 3)
Step 4: Answer: (y + 1)2 = -4p(x - 3)
Try two practice problems: Do the following:

A.

B.

a3

a5

   (x + 2) = -4p ( y - 2)

 (x - 1) = -4p ( y - 2)
