                     Lesson 1

Problem:   The sum of four consecutive  numbers is 46. What are they?

Solution    Let the numbers be represented by y, y + 1 , y + 2 and y + 3

                                                            Step 1:                         

Solution    Forming the equation: y + y + 1 + y + 2 + y + 3 = 46

Step 2:

Solution    4 y = 46 – 6

Step 3: 

                                                            Solution y = 40 / 4 = 10

                                                            Step 4:

                                                            Solution    The numbers are 10,10 +1 , 10 + 2,10 + 3

                                                            Step 5: 

                                                            Solution    Answer:  10,11,12 and 13

                                                            Step 6:
