Division Principle Worksheet

Problem:                   Find value of the variable.

y x 3 = 18

Step 1: If we multiply or divide both sides by same number, balance is maintained.

                                                            Step 2:                    We divide both sides by 5, y remains unchanged

= Y x 3 ÷ 3 = 18 ÷ 3

= Y = 6                                                                

Step 3:                    The answer is:  6

                                                            Try two practice problems:   Fill in the blank with correct sign.
